Losing It! Update: 04.23.10

I’m not going to lie. It’s been a tough week. A daily battle of wills. DAILY!

I brought my cute little pink lunch box to work each day this week and only ate what was in it. I chomped lots of gum. I drank lots of water.

AND, I MAINTAINED! Whoop! Whoop!

Actually, I may have lost a pound. I’ll know in the morning. (I always write the post on Thursday night and weigh and then publsih on Friday morning.)

If you were praying for me, I thank you. If you even thought “I hope she has a good week.” I thank you. I do not claim myself to be the winner of this battle, but my God who is whispering in my ear that I really don’t need that delicious looking piece of cake or a hamburger or some pizza.

If you are wondering what the big deal about this week was… My company does a yearly conference. It’s next week. To say that it has been a stressful week would be an understatement. One think I know about myself – I’m a stress eater. In a BIG way. But, I knew it was coming. And, I had a plan in place. Thankfully, I was able to stick to that plan.

Next week is conference week. I have VERY little control over the food that I will eat. We’re fed in mass, and we’re fed well. But, I’ve got my plan. I’ve got my protein bars that have been my breakfast as of late. I’ve got my flavoring for my water so I won’t want drink a Diet Coke. I’ve got 100 calorie snacks to grab instead of grabbing a Snickers. I think I’m ready. I’m bringing my walking shoes and workout clothes and will hit the treadmill in the hotel hopefully. If I can’t make it to the gym, I’ll take some laps around the arena at a brisk pace when I can.

I have a plan, and I will persevere!!!!

Current Stats:
This week’s loss: 1.5 – CANNOT even believe I lost this week.
Total loss: 15.5
Percentage lost: 6.9%

I’m heading on over to Giving Up On Perfect to cheer on the rest of the Losing It ladies! Well, I’m going to go over there tonight as I sit on the couch with my hubby. It’s become my favorite part of Friday night – seeing how everyone is doing and encouraging them all. LOVE the community that has formed around Losing it!

Responses

  1. This is fantastic. You have your body believing it should lose weight!

  2. That is great news on your 1.5 lb. loss this week! Having a plan in advance seemed to be very beneficial.

I agree with you about “loving the community that has formed around Losing It!” It has helped me to have a positive accountability group to check in with every Friday. See you next week!

    • Can’t wait to see how everyone ends up!
And yes, a plan is a must for me. I flounder w/o a plan!

  3. I’m so excited to see everyone’s losses! GO! Can’t wait to see who the winner is next week!

    • I don’t think I’m going to win the contest, but I have seriously won in the benefits department – both my health and new friendships!!

  4. You will do this. Proud of you!

  5. Good job this week! Whoo hoo for a 1.5 lb. loss!

    • Thanks Alana!

  6. Awesome job! Keep it up! I think you are doing amazing. I hope this week goes well, and I’ll keep praying. I’ll call to catch up after your craziness is over. Love ya!

  7. I am SOOO proud of you !! The weight loss and self control this week rock.. but the planning over next week… Way TO GO!!!!

I’ll be praying over you next week.. I just finished one of the most stressful work weeks with two huge events and can totally relate!

    You ROCK!

    • Thanks Dedra! Events – they make you CRAZY. I’ve got my lists ready for my plan. Going to boil some eggs to take with me too. Just got some farm fresh ones. Those are GREAT for when I’m starving right before bed, and I’ll have a fridge. Whoop!
      Appreciate the encouragement.

  8. Well, I know I won’t be the winner in the weight loss category, but I’m sure a winner in that I’ve gained new friends. I’m thinking I need the continued accountability of putting my sorry story out there for the world to see. Great job on making a plan for your conference!

    • Thanks so much Jennie!
I do so LOVE all the new “friends” I have. I too will continue to post on Fridays about my weight loss.
I figured out if I continue to lose a 1.5 pounds a week, I’ll hit my goal by my huge family gathering for Thanksgiving at the beach. Whoop! Whoop! Now, that’s a motivator!

  9. I chomped a LOT of gum this week, too! I was working on a mind-numbingly boring project and wanted to MUNCH sooo badly! I went through a whole pack of gum working on that thing!

    • I bought two packs to take to conference this week. Hoping it will help me with the munchies. Gum is a very under-appreciated invention in my opinion. LOL!
